Renunciation

What looks like a turning away from is really a turning toward

Releasing the glitter is natural when you touch into something more

The dramas fears and fancies make a veil so that you can’t see

They are burdens and distractions from the source of satisfaction

Simplicity, release of greed

Living lightly, taking only what I need

Using my time and energy to get myself free

What looks like a turning away from is really a turning toward

What looks austere and humble is thick and warm with peace

Stopping the frantic clutch to “self” is a marvelous release

Dedication to helping others – every being was once your mother

In solitude and meditation, touching liberation

Simplicity, release of greed

Living lightly, taking only what I need

Using my time and energy to get myself free

What looks austere and humble is thick and warm with peace

What looks strangely unfamiliar is the path that takes me home

Finding what the heart’s been seeking, shedding habits I have known

It’s only mind that holds us back.  Step off the edge, go off the track

Give up enchantment with impermanent things, find the joy clear seeing brings

Simplicity, release of greed

Living lightly, taking only what I need

Using my time and energy to get myself free

What looks like a turning away from is really a turning toward

What looks austere and humble is thick and warm with peace

What looks strangely unfamiliar is the path that takes me home
