Lovingkindness
by Eve Decker, Lindsey Crittenden, Andrea Prichett
I begin with myself because that’s where I live
So let me feel the love that I have to give
Hard on myself I’ve honed doubt to an art
Love me inside, that’s where I must start
May I be happy, may I be safe, may I be healthy, may I be at ease
You’ve done good for me with intention and will
Brought me to a place that carries me still
All alone in this world yet you’ve got my back
The universe is good and you’re part of that
May you be happy, may you be safe, may you be healthy, may you be at ease
Dear friend you have meant so much to me
Don’t let me fall into jealousy
May you enjoy every good thing you’ve got
May I feel selfless love no matter what
May you be happy, may you be safe, may you be healthy, may you be at ease
Standing in line I look at your face
Standing in line I could be in your place
Trying to get through this world, this day
I offer you love as we go on our way
May you be happy, may you be safe, may you be healthy, may you be at ease
Your behavior is selfish, contracted insane
I reject you protect my heart from that pain
But you long for happiness just as I do
May you find it, and forgiveness too
May you be happy, may you be safe, may you be healthy, may you be at ease
All seen and unseen, so many of us here
A blur until I feel the individuals there
Bird on the branch, dog in the car
Known and unknown, all beings near and far
May we be happy, may we be safe, may we be healthy, may we be at ease
May we be happy, may we be safe, may we be healthy, may we be at ease
May we be happy, may we be safe, may we be healthy, may we be at ease
